about me: George Barron Martinez

Here's a little about me:

I attended Basic Training in Lackland, Texas. I went to Firefighter's school in Chanute, Illinois. Then I was assigned to Vandenberg AFB in Vandenberg,California where I was surrounded by missiles and rockets.

Shortly after my stay at Vandenberg, I was assigned to Thailand. After Thailand I was assigned to Castle AFB in California where I remained to finish my term. At Castle I worked with B52s and tankers.

Shortly after that I attended theology school in St. Paul, Minnesota. And, yes, some of you had said I'd be a preacher. I was ordained in 1975.

I'm married with two sons, Marc and Andrew, and a beautiful wife, Sue. I'm retired as of October 3, 2010 from counseling. I remain active in ministries.

Some of you had asked, during my stay in Thailand, how and when I could do so much. Even now, as you read my bio, you may still be asking "how can he do so much in such a short time?" Yes, I'll break it down. After working my 24hr shift at the fire dept., on the same morning at 9am, I'd report to school. I worked from 9am to 12pm. The school was called Srithongsuksakorn. After lunch I'd grab a bite and follow my routine into the villages. On occasion I visited Laos and Cambodia and returned to the base at 9pm, gate time. My life was mostly spent in the community and out of Thailand, not butterflying around.

God Bless.

Sincerely,

George Barron Martinez
